How can you get what you really want?
Try communicating with others in the way they will respond to the most, that is: in their own communication style. If they are Dominant Leader (LION) and you talk to them slowly with a lot of details, they will shut you down or push you around. When you try to influence the Talkative Entertainer (MONKEY) with statistics and details they will run away or interrupt you. While talking to the Helpful Relator (DOLPHIN) you can't be aggressive or in a hurry.  If you try to influence the Intellectual Perfectionist (OWL) with jokes and small-talk, you will be labeled as non-serious and unimportant.

To really communicate with influence you must adapt what you are saying to their personality type.
